Chris Wood aka chris-wood Christopher Charles Wood (born April 14, 1988) is an American actor. He is known for his role as Kai Parker in the sixth season of the CW’s television series The Vampire Diaries in 2014. After previously appearing on The CW’s The Carrie Diaries in the role of writer Adam Weaver in 2013. He also starred in the 2016 CW television series Containment in the leading role of Atlanta police officer Jake Riley. From 2016 to 2018, he played Mon-El on the CW superhero series Supergirl.

Early life And Family 

Chris was born in Dublin, Ohio. In 2010, he graduated from Elon University, Elon, North Carolina with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music Theater. While at Elon, he met and befriended Grant Gustin and they have been friends since. Chris  Wood is close friends with his former on-screen brother Grant Gustin, who portrays Barry Allen/The Flash on The Cw’s series The Flash.  Wood cast as the lead role of Mon-El on Supergirl. He and Melissa Benoist began dating in 2017.

In 2017, Chirs started dating fellow actress Melissa Benoist. On February 10, 2019, Chris and Melissa announced their engagement on Instagram and married seven months later in early September. In March 2020, they announced that they are expecting their first child. As of September 25, their son, Huxley Robert Chris Wood, is already a few weeks old.

Career

In 2013, Chris Wood joined the cast of The Carrie Diaries as writer Adam Weaver. Wood appeared in an episode of the short-lived ABC series Killer Women as journalist Chase Davenport in 2014. He then appeared on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries in 2014, as Kai Parker, Elena Gilbert’s (Nina Dobrev) vampire doppelgänger. He also appeared in the 2016 CW television series Containment playing Jake Riley, a rookie police officer who becomes head of a unit dedicated to containing a deadly epidemic from spreading. 

After graduation, he played Melchior in the 2010–2011 national tour of Spring Awakening. Wood appeared in the recurring role of Malachai Parker in season six of The Vampire Diaries. He appeared also in a guest role as Paul, in the episode “Beach House” of Girls. He was cast in a starring role in the 2016 CW drama series Containment, portraying officer Jake Riley. In April 2016, Wood was cast in a role on the second season of the PBS period drama Mercy Street and In July 2016, he was cast as a series regular in the role of Mon-El for the second season of Supergirl, In 2020, Wood was cast in the ABC pilot Thirtysomething. 

On February 24, 2020, Wood was revealed to be playing Prince Adam and He-Man in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, with its first half, released July 23, 2021, and it’s second on November 23 that same year. The film will be followed by Masters of the Universe: The Animated Series, as well as a planned sequel in 2022.
